There had been quite a few rumors about iPad getting retina display. However, these rumors got debunked pretty quickly. But this time, the fire has been started by LG Display CEO Young Soo Kwon. The CEO let it slip that the next generation iPad will come with Retina Display. This display is already being used for iPhone and iPod.
While announcing dismal second quarter earnings, the CEO said, “More smartphone manufacturers will release new models employing LG’s “Retina Display’’ that has been used in iPhones and iPads.” Probably, he meant to say iPod instead of iPad, since it has been pointed out several times that cost of producing 10.1” retina display would be prohibitive. Apple is likely to introduce the updated version of iPad along with iPhone this September.
