Apple are considering using Samsung’s AMOLED screens for their new iPad 3 as their interim CEO Tim Cook has been sniffing around Samsung’s R&D department, ampoule according to reports from Korea.
Cook, viagra order is currently holding down the fort at Cupertino as Steve Jobs tries to get back to full health.
Cook paid a visit to South Korea recently, and according to The Korea Herald offered Samsung an advance so Apple could secure first dibs on the new AMOLED screens.
“Apple wants to tap into Samsung’s AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad2, considered as many as the iPad3 that is likely to be launched toward the end of this year,” a secret source is supposed to have said.
Apple has often said that its own Retina screens are easily on par with Sammy’s AMOLED, but looks now to be conceding that Sammy’s panels offer brighter images with less battery drain and might be used in the new iPad – as well as the next generation of Galaxy Tab.
We think that Apple are being more than a bit cheeky as they are dragging Samsung through the courts at the moment as Apple believes that the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S are copies of Apple’s iPad and iPhone 4.
If the Korean electronic giant has any sense it would do well to avoid giving its competitor an advantage using its own technology.
Apple is expected by some to refresh the iPad towards the end of the year, but our money is on a mid summer 2012 launch for the iPad 3, not least because the company is still struggling to meet demand for the current version and could easily sell more than it is able to make.
