Were so old that back in the day before Andriod and Apple ruled the roost of the mobile world, back when polyphonic ringtones were all the range – we used to get really excited about Cyber-Shot phones.
Well it looks like it might be time to get excited again as Sony Ericsson are ready to leverage some of that goodwill left and are planning a new Android Cyber-shot handset.
We’ve come across some rather blurry images of what appears to be a new Xperia phone with the Cyber-shot insignia on the bottom – it looks as if Sony Ericsson are looking to build up on the success of its Xperia range.
The source is a very unofficial Xperia blog, and shows off an all-black sleek looking handset that has all the hallmarks of Android and the words ‘Cyber-shot’ embezzled on it.
The picture clearly shows the return, home and back buttons – so it would be a good bet to think that it has Android under the hood.
Considering what we’re already seeing on Sony Ericsson phones at present, it will surely sport the likes of the Exmor R sensor present on the likes of the Xperia Arc, and possibly even with those insanely high megapixel counts we’ve heard are on the way at some point.
If Sony do decide to marry Cyber-shot, Xperia and Android – this would be match made in heaven and we expect the phone to fly off the shelves, after all the iPhone 4’s camera isn’t the best thing in the world – and Cyber-shot cameras are re-nowed for bullet-proof quality.
We’ll keep tabs on this and see how it develops over the coming months.
