The Apple rumour mill is cranking backup up again with more rumours that Apple are planning a new iPod Touch, prostate new iPad, ambulance and interestingly or worryingly a new iPhone 5 (we know they’ve just released one.)
The rumours are being circulated by a reliable source from over the pond and have to be taken with a couple of grains of salt as with any Mac rumours.
The new iPod will apparently finally come with a camera after pictures that have leaked onto the web this morning from Electricpig. Both the shuffle and Touch will get a makeover with the dinky 3-inch touch screen edition, which will do away with the famous jog dial that was used in the first iPods. And could be on shelves as early as September.
Next up is a new iPad, now there has been rumours that a new iPad would be launched in the next 12 months with a front facing camera to allow users to use Apple Facetime function, but the current rumour mill is pointing to something slightly different. A few months back a picture surfaced of a new screen that was 7-inches big and was touted for a new Apple product. Now it is thought that the new iPad could be revised into two different sizes, a 10-inch and 7-inch edition.
It is touted that we might see it late 2010 or early 2011 – if it end up being substantially cheaper that the bigger version we could see it flying off the shelves, especially if they could get the price to below £300 maybe even £250 – would make it a shrewd move for company.
But perhaps the most interesting rumours from this reliable source is that Apple is pushing up the release date of the fifth-generation iPhone to early 2011 (as soon as January) because of the antenna issues with the iPhone 4. It’s unknown whether this will be a repackaging of iPhone 4 components in a different shell or something more substantial. We reiterate: it’s hard to believe. But as with so many seemingly far-fetched early reports, it’s not impossible.
So this just speculation, but we know Apple have a thing for re-modeling their product lines, they are doing it so frequently now that consumers almost expect it and it allows the company to keep pushing their sales, by allowing little lead time before the hype run out. But these rumors seem a little cynical for us. Apple can’t expect to keep changing their products every 12 months and keep their loyal fans without trying to milk the situation. Especially if their already going to making the iPhone 4 obsolete.
What do think of Apple constant revamping? Are they just giving the consumer what they want or are they trying to get as much money out of their fans as possible? Let us know below.
